By now, most of you have heard the news: Joe Biden has exited the presidential race. This historic announcement comes just months before the election. It marks the first time in 56 years that a major party will nominate a presidential candidate who didn’t enter any primaries. While Biden has endorsed Harris as his successor, much remains uncertain.
Regardless of who leads the Democratic ticket, several things are clear. We must frame this race not just against Trump but as one that champions Democratic principles. This race concerns the rights of minorities and marginalized segments of our society. It's about upholding the rights of all people, regardless of race, sex, ethnic background or other factors – this is about women’s rights, LGBT rights,
The outcome of this election will determine federal judicial appointments and potentially Supreme Court nominations. We cannot sit by the sidelines when so much is at stake.
No matter if you remain Team Biden or were in favor of his decision, now is the time for Democrats to coalesce and work to preserve our Democracy.
